PanoMeasure2 is a software for drawing and size measurement based on spherical image. It can be used for measurement in narrow and dangerous places such as inspection inside the ceiling. 3D measurement is possible for a single image taken by one-shot shooting using spherical panoramic cameras such as RICOH THETA. However, it is recommended to use this software in combination with a laser marking device for accurate measurement.
PanoMeasure2 is not for the measurement of natural objects, people, animals, etc. outdoors but for creating drawings of features inside buildings.
Operation on Windows 7/8 has been checked. GPU that supports OpenGL 2.1 or beyond is required (Most of the latest PCs should satisfy the requirements).
The measurement accuracy depends on many error factors such as the resolution of the camera, lens performance, shooting distance, shooting conditions, and the accuracy of the composition of panoramic image. When RICOH THETA is used, if the horizontal level and distortion are set and corrected properly, and the camera-to-subject distance is three meters, an experienced user can measure with the average error of 1% (If the length of an object is one meter, the accuracy is within a margin of error of 10 mm). If the horizontal level is not adjusted properly, the error may be 10% or more.
The current released programs are only for demonstration. The validity period differs according to revision, but there is no function restriction.
This software is still under development, and the specification is subject to major change.
This software is based on the technology which has been applied for a patent (Japanese Patent Application No.: 2013-267404).
