Applications and gadget are called for as follows.

Application section / API section

Applications that use RICOH THETA API are called for.

Application section / Utility section

Applications that do not use “RICOH THETA” API and operate as a combination with existing applications and data collection use are called for.

Gadget section

Gadgets for RICOH THETA are called for. Imaginative proposal such as attachments to THETA and a combination with other peripheral devices are welcome.
Applicants can use the 3D model data of RICOH THETA enclosure.

Eligibility

  • Those who agree to the Application Rules.
  • Any party including individuals, groups and corporations.
  • There is no restriction on nationality, age, resident area, etc. However, minor applicants need to obtain the permission of guardian.
  • An applicant (an individual, a group or a corporation) can submit multiple applications and gadgets, and can belong to multiple groups.

Application procedures

Applicants must agree to the Application Rules for the application.
Register an application using the application form on the dedicated website. Submission made later than the deadline will not be accepted.

Register via the application website by the deadline.
Failure to adhere to the deadline will result in disqualification

STEP2. Submission

Submit via the application form on the application website the set of the following documents and material by the entry submission deadline.

Documents to be submitted

Application section (API/utility)

  • Explanation of application (up to 500 words)
  • Photo (snapshot) (up to five pictures)
  • Explanation movie (maximum play time: two minutes)
  • Application manual (How to operate applications and the explanation of the expected behavior)
  • URL where applications are published (Google Play, App Store, Windows Store and other websites chosen by applicants)
  • Types of used API

Gadget section

  • Explanation of gadget (up to 500 words)
  • Photo (snapshot) (up to five pictures)
  • Explanation movie (maximum play time: two minutes)
  • Manual (How to operate gadgets and applications and the explanation of the expected behavior)
  • URL where applications are published if any : Google Play, App Store, Windows Store and other websites chosen by applicants
  • Gadget (needs to be submitted to the secretariat. Application from Japan: must be received by the deadline, application from abroad: must be received within a week after the deadline.)

Special Notes on the submission of iOS Apps

  • Please finish the submission of your App to App Store before the final submission of your entry.
  • When you register your entry to the contest, please input the URL that is given to your App in the iApp Store when you upload the App via iTunes Connect. (The URL starts with "https://itunes.apple.com/")

  • If the review by App Store is not finished yet:
    • If the review by App Store is not finished yet at the time of the contest entry, please send the copy of PDF image of the review status page of your App to the secretariat: support@contest.theta360.com
    • Create a PDF file of the Review History Status screen that is shown by
      iTunes Connect > MyApps > yourApplication > Additional Information
      Put your name as part of the PDF filename and send it to us.
    • We will use it to verify that "Upload Received" has a timestamp earlier than "6/30 (23:59 JST)".
    • When the App status becomes "Ready for Sale", please send the PDF image of the Status History page screen again to the secretariat in a manner described above.
    • With the receipt of the two screen PDF files, one at the time the entry of the contest, and the other at the time of "Ready for Sale", we shall acknowledge the tentative entry to become the official entry to the contest.

Platform requirements

Applications and gadgets must operate on either of the following. (When the version is specified, it is ok if the submitted material operates in the environment with specified version or later version. E.g.: Applications which operate on iOS 8.1 or later version are accepted. Applications which operate on iOS 6.0, but not on iOS 7.1, are not accepted.)

Web application Operate with one of the following: Google Chrome, Firefox, IE, Safari, etc.
Check the operation on the latest version at the time of application, and submit the browser and version information.
OS for PC Windows 8 or later version
Mac OSX 10.8 or later version

Judging criteria

Innovative

Submissions will be judged comprehensively in light of the following points.

  • Creativity (originality)
  • Future outlook (potential, extensibility)
  • Benefit (practicality)

Awards ceremony

Awards ceremony will be held on August 20, 2015 at National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Tokyo, Japan). The details will be notified as soon as winners are selected.
